Pastor Neill

“When I was four and going to church with my mom, the pastor of the Baptist church we attended told me I had a pastor’s heart.” Spurgin now lives his dream as Senior Pastor of Expressions Community Fellowship in northwest Oklahoma City. Spurgin initially started his pastorship in a church in Ardmore in 2001 after stepping out of his successful career as a regional vice president for a major corporation based in Oklahoma City. He has been in the ministry since then both in Texas and Oklahoma but has more than 17 combined years in ministry.

Expressions was born April 6, and shaped from a year-long bible study called “Expressions of Hope.” The bible study classes reached out to many, and worked with the Oklahoma City Community College Gay-Straight Alliance. Expressions is characterized as a contemporary Evangelical, all inclusive, gay-affirming congregation:  “A place where you can be as God created you, and friendships become family.”

The mission of Expressions Community Fellowship is: To be a church, where all people, no matter their individual expression can join on the journey toward God together in Community, giving them a greater purpose in life; with the ultimate goal of reaching people with the good news that Jesus loves them. “My dream is to provide an environment where all people can have a place to worship where no matter how you are created, you can find your identity with God,” said Spurgin. “People have been through so many events in their lives and they need to be able to walk free in their true identity. We want our members to come in, feel the love in their hearts and be able to go out and spread the love of Jesus, no matter who they are.” (From The City Sentinel)
